Police closed a large section of Japan’s controversialYasukuni Shrine onMonday and began a manhuntfor a figure captured on security camera after asuspected explosive device detonated in apublic lavatory.

周一，一个疑似爆炸装置在日本备受争议的靖国神社(YasukuniShrine)的一个公厕被引爆，日本警方随即关闭了靖国神社的大块区域，开始搜捕安防摄像头拍摄到的一个人。

No injuries were reported from the blast, which police at the scene toldreporters had burnedwalls and left a hole in the roof.

Initial findings suggested that the explosion was non-accidental and hadbeen caused by atimed device. Police were reported by Japanese media as sayingthat plastic tubing, batteries,wires and four iron bars had been found at thescene.

初步调查结果显示，此次爆炸不是事故造成的，而是由一个定时装置引发。日本媒体援引警方的话报道称，现场发现了塑料管、电池、电线和4根铁棍。

Police are investigating footage from a security camera that appeared toshow a man with apaper bag near the public lavatory a few minutes before theblast.

警方正在调查一个安防摄像头拍摄到的画面，画面似乎显示，一名男子在爆炸几分钟前拿着一个纸袋出现在该公厕附近。

Japanese media also reported police speculation that the blast may havebeen a “copycatincident” inspired by recent extremist violence in Europe.

The war shrine has, in the past, been a focus of both nationalist andleft-wing Japaneseactivism. It is also a flashpoint in regional relations: Chinaand Korea view Yasukuni as a symbolof Japan’s failure to adequately acknowledgeand apologise for historic atrocities inflicted onits neighbours.
