Yahoo Promises Not to "Screw It Up" Over 1.1billion dollars Tumblr Deal

雅虎承诺不会将与汤博乐价值11亿美元的交易搞砸

Yahoo promised "not to screw it up" as it formallyannounced its acquisition of the Tumblr bloggingplatform for 1.1 billion dollars ahead of the USstock market opening on Monday.

周一美国股市开盘前，雅虎正式宣布以11亿美元收购汤博乐博客平台时，承诺不会将这件事搞砸。

The deal, which is expected to complete in the second half of the year, is almost all cash, isequal in value to Yahoo's money in hand at the end of its first quarter in March—but it hassubstantial extra assets in short-term securities, shares in the Chinese site Alibaba, and otherequities which it can liquidate.

这个预计将在今年下半年完成的交易几乎全部使用现金，总价相当于今年三月份第一季度末，雅虎手头所有的现金量。但是，雅虎拥有短期证券的大量额外资产，中国网站阿里巴巴的股份，以及其他可以兑现的股票。

Yahoo plans to use its personalization and search technologies to tie Tumblr users more tightlyinto its network—thus dragging their attention away from rival social networks.传播学考研

And, fundamentally, Tumblr and Yahoo are both allabout users, design, and finding surprise and inspiration amidst the everyday."

Announcing the deal on Tumblr's staff blog, David Karp, Tumblr's 26-year-old founder, said: "We're not turning purple. Our headquarters isn't moving. Our team isn't changing." Karp willremain Tumblr's chief executive. The deal will see Karp become the latest high-school dropoutturned multimillionaire. Thank you.
