再也不需要对着优秀的文章“望洋兴叹”了,雅思注重语言,托福看中逻辑,只有搞懂考官的心,才能虏获考官的分。现在就让吉林新东方的陈思佳老师带着怀揣留学美梦的同学,走在成功的小路上。逻辑这东西说起来深奥,但是“看”起来还是很浅显易懂的,关键是“要特意看上一眼”。
题目:
TOEFL 140712 多技能单技能容易工作成功
People who develop many different skills are more successful than peoplewho focus on only one skill.
第一段:
In today’s world, there seem two big trends in terms of professionaldevelopment: increasing specialization, and increasing diversification. Bothpaths are viable. In terms of overall potential for success, however, I thinkthose who learn many different skills are better off than those who only focuson one.
汉语理清思路:
在当今世界,关于职业发展似乎存在两个主流趋势:增加专业化和增强多样化。这两条路都是可行的。然而,关于整体上的成功的可能性的问题,我认为那些学习很多不同技能的人优于那些只关注一种技能的人。
总结第一段逻辑:
(1) 两个趋势是什么
(2) 虽然认同双方
(3) 但是我有自己的看法
第二段(4句话):
1. First of all, people who have a diverse skill set tend to have moreoptions to choose from when it comes to jobs.
首先,当谈到工作的时候,拥有不同技能的人可能有更多的选择。
2. Because they know how to do many different things, they can fill a widerrange of positions than a person who only knows how to do one thing.
因为他们直到如何去做很多不同的事情,所以他们比那些只会做一件事的人更能满足一个更大范围的职业需求。
3. This allows them to adapt to the marketplace and apply to many types ofpositions instead of just waiting for a single type of position to open up.

4. For example, if you are a graphic designer who can do advertising work,concept work, and web design, you will probably have a better chance at findinga job during a recession than someone who just knows how to doadvertising.(124)

1. Second of all, people who have learned many different skills canacclimate to new jobs more quickly than those who are less versatile.
第二,那些已经学习了很多技能的人可能比那些没那么多才多艺的人更快地适应一些新的工作。
2. This is because in the process of learning new skills, one also learnshow to learn—those who have spent a lot of time acquiring new skills tend tomaster unfamiliar task in a quicker and more systematic way.
这是因为,在这个学习新技能的过程中,一个人也学会了如何去学习,那些已经花了很多时间去学习新技能的人更可能以更快捷更系统的方式去驾驭陌生的任务。
3. They will recognize when to ask for help and when to test things out ontheir own, when to allow others to lead and when to take initiative.
他们会知道什么时候去寻求帮助,什么时候去亲自实行,什么时候让别人领导以及什么时候掌握主动权。
4. Those who only focus on learning a single skill will feel helpless whentasked with learning additional ones.(112)
当被派以需要学习更多技能的任务的时候,那些只专注于学习单个技能的人将会感到无助。

3. I have met several people who work for car companies and are onlyknowledgeable about their one small domain of car production—stamping metal forhoods, upholstering seats, installing lights, etc.
4. The rest of the process is mysterious to them, because the division oflabor in a factory line only requires them to do one thing well.
5. However, I would argue that even for these individuals, learning moreskills can help them in terms of upwards mobility.
6. To leave the production line and become a manager, for instance, oneneeds to be able to do more than just stamp metal.
7. Thus, even specialists can become more successful by acquiring differentskills.(155)
第五段:
1. Being versatile allows one to not only apply to many different types ofjobs, but also adapt more quickly to any particular job.
2. Specialization can undoubtedly be beneficial in many industries, butbroadening one’s skill set can pay still dividends even for hardcorespecialists.(46)
