Task 1 :

1. Some people prefer to have a very tight schedule, while others prefer tohave more free time in their schedule. Which one do you prefer and why?

Personally, I prefer to have a schedule with more free time, to begin with,as a high school student, I am overwhelmed with all kinds of assignments, likepresentations, group projects and papers and stuff, I should have a chance toescape from my busy study, and relax a little bit. Life is not all about the socalled important stuff, like keeping a high GPA, making lots of money, orlanding a well-paid job. far more important stuff than that, like I should havesome free time to hang out with my families, and spend some quality time withthem. That's why I prefer to have a schedule with more free time.

Task 2:

1. Do you agree or disagree with the statement? Parents should give morepressure on their children for doing well at school.

Personally, I would say that parents should give more pressure on theirchildren, actually, lots of kids waste their time playing video games, and someof them got addicted to playing on-line games, and they are too young to realizehow valuable time is to them right now, they don't even feel the peer pressure,and they are not aware that their future is somewhat depended on their academicperformance in school. So the parents should constantly remind them theimportance of school, and they should get more pressure from their parents.

2. Which do you think is more important for someone to be successful:taking risks or making safe decisions?

Well, personally, I would say we should taking risk when it comes tosuccess. To begin with, lots of successful businessperson take risk in order tosurvive and thrive in competing with their competitors. For examples, realestate tycoon Donald Trump, I am sure he lost billions of dollar whenever thereis recession, but I am sure the risks he took would pay off. Another case inpoint is Sir Richard Branson, a very iconic businessman from England. He riskedhis own life and health to fly the balloon over the Atlantic ocean in order tomarket his company and his own image. Based on these reasons and more, takingrisks is a good choice

3. Your professor is asking you to help with some research work on theweekend, but you have planned to go to your sister’s birthday party. Which wouldyou choose to do? Explain why?

Personally, I would say I'd like to go to my sister's birthday party andspend some quality time with her. To begin with, there are far more importantstuff in life than just doing research in school and keeping a high GPA, myfamily members are also very important to me. My sister's birthday only happensonce a year, it will be a shame for me to miss it, and I bet she will be veryexcited if I show up in the party. Additionally, I can put off the research fornow, and I think the professor is a considerate person, and he will understandmy tough situation.

4. Which of the following library volunteer work would you choose? Helpingpeople find the right material, reading to kids, or keeping bookshelforganized?

Personally, I would like to help people find the right material. Actually Ilike to help others directly, and I get a sense of accomplishment when I canhelp out others, sometimes students have a hard time finding the book they need,and there is nobody there assisting them, since I am very quick withalphabetical order and numbers, so I will be very efficient. On top of that,this job can help me to meet new people and make new friends, they might havedifferent majors, thus I can be exposed to new concepts and idea wheninteracting with them, and this will make my life in college moremeaningful.
