Chai Jing's one-year project, Under the Dome, marks a comeback for theformer presenter and journalist with China Central Television following thebirth of her child. It adds asentimental touch to a matter of public interestwith Chai not only an independent observer but also a concerned mother.

女儿出生之后，柴静花了一年时间拍摄了《穹顶之下》，此片表明了这位前中央电视台主持人兼记者的归来。这部纪录片给关注柴的人带来了一丝伤感，让大家认识到柴不仅是一名独立的观察者，而且是一位忧心忡忡的母亲。

After ending a decade with the state broadcaster early last year, Chaishunned public attention to focus on taking care of her daughter, who wasdiagnosed with a tumor as a fetus and underwent surgery as a new-born baby.

"I saw smog through my daughter's eyes," Chai said while presenting herfilm. She recounted how the little girl was confined indoors, patting the windowto vent her frustration at being unable to play outside.

The public is no stranger to Chai criticizing pollution-plagued areasnotably the northern province of Shanxi, her coal-rich hometown, which helpedbuild her image as an environmental advocate.

Chai said she hopes the 103-minute film will serve as an answer to threequestions about smog - what is smog, where does it come from and what to doabout it.

It's also the answer that she's been preparing for her daughter.
